Industry News and Reports

A fascinating study was recently published in the International Journal of Human-Computer interaction. 63 mental health professionals reviewed anonymised therapy transcripts, in the early problem exploration phase. Some were from real human therapists, others generated by an AI chatbot. They were asked to identify which transcripts were human-led and rate their quality.

Therapists could only tell AI from human transcripts 53.9% of the time, no better than random guessing. Further, on average therapists scored AI powered sessions as higher quality as those delivered by fellow human therapists.

At Tacklit, we believe AI has great potential to increase access to quality mental health care, but only if deployed responsibly and in service of human-led care. We work with our customers on enabling this vision, every day. Access full study here.

The Australian Government has just launched the National Suicide Prevention Strategy 2025-2035, setting a new direction for how we approach suicide prevention.

The strategy moves beyond crisis response and focuses on preventing distress before it escalates—things like financial stress, housing instability, and social isolation are now being recognised as key risk factors. More..

A recent HIMSS report paints a stark picture on healthcare staff burnout, with 77% of clinicians and 83% of clinical leaders reporting signs of burnout.

Staff think technology can help, with survey pointing to redesigning electronic health records (EHRs) and automating reporting and other workflows as key opportunities. More..

Featured Article: Eight Ways Technology Can Increase Access to Mental Health Care

The demand for mental health care is skyrocketing, yet the resources to meet this need remain insufficient. There simply aren't enough trained professionals, and the funding to expand care is limited. This creates an urgent need to do more with less.

Traditional models of mental health care are no longer enough. To bridge the gap, we need new delivery models that increase access while maintaining or improving quality and risk management. Mental health care interventions must remain evidence-based and person-centered, but they must also scale to meet growing demand.

Technology, when applied correctly, can be a powerful tool to address these challenges. More..

Customer News and Case Studies

Mums Matter is a large online perinatal mental health service, with over 100 clinicians providing accessible support to thousands of pregnant and new parents from Victoria, Australia.

Mums Matter scaled over many years, and its technology infrastructure had become increasingly complex, with multiple point solutions. It chose Tacklit’s end-to-end platform to lower waitlist times, deliver a better online client experience, and lift accessibility by decreasing appointment whitespace and time spent in non clinical tasks. Is it possible for large mental health service providers to smoothly transition their IT systems? Just ask Talk Well (Previously TIC+)!

TIC+’s 80 counsellors support over 3000 youth each year, across multiple locations in Gloucestershire, England.

TIC+ used to rely on fragmented systems, paper-based processes and email communications for its operations, diverting resources away from youth care to data quality and reporting issues. More..

We love partnering deeply with our customers so our technology can best enable clinical pathways and goals. In the last quarter, as in those before, we really enjoyed our time together around whiteboards in the UK, Australia and New Zealand.
